+1 for the 180. I have one in my 5.9L v8, and it has no trouble heating up in the winter (18 this morning in GA), and is cooler in the summer.

Also, if the engine can't get up to temp, it won't burn off water condensation in the oil. That can lead to sludge.

They usually fail open and cause the engine to run cold.

No need to drill. They all bleed air and you're reducing the efficiency of the thermostat when you do this

http://www.stant.com/index.php/engli...rmostats/faqs/

MY THERMOSTAT HAS A JIGGLE PIN BUT THE STANT THERMOSTAT DOESN'T. WILL A STANT THERMOSTAT STILL WORK?

Yes. Many thermostats have a “jiggle pin” that allows trapped air in the cooling system to pass through the thermostat and be released from the system. Some Stant thermostat do not use have a jiggle pin. These thermostats will have a "bleed notch” or other method of removing air from the system.

I'll have to get in there an replace it. Thanks guys! Any tips? I know the accessory bracket can be removed with the ac compressor and alt installed. That's the only thing I need to get out of the way? Any other parts to replace while I'm in there? I already got a feel pro seal. The water neck is a little over a year old. Recommendations?

If you can move the big bracket out of the way, that's all ya really need. Might want to look at the bypass hose from the water pump, to intake while that bracket is moved though......

I replaced that little tube from the water pump a little over a year ago, same time as the thermostat. Think it's worth replacing?

Probably not necessary then. Wouldn't hurt to look at it though, make sure clamps are tight.......
