I installed a 190 thermostat in my truck but lately it doesn't get near that. It's acting as if I installed a 150 or 160 thermostat. Can this have any bad effects on my truck? Besides.... No heat

How long ago did you install the t-stat? Did you burp the system correctly, sure you got all the air out?
its been over a year since i installed that 190. the problem is just surfacing maybe for the last month or so. my truck sits allot. i drive the company truck most of the time.
but when they fail dont they usually cause the engine to overheat? this thing functions like a good t stat but at a much lower temp. that t stat is a real bugger to get to. is it possible to get to without taking off the accessory bracket?

If the thermostat fails open, and it's winter time, your engine probably won't reach operating temp which is what you're seeing.

There is a tab on the front of the thermostat housing, that makes it fun to get out with everything else still in place. Grind off the tab, and life becomes a lot easier.
Get a stant superstat. NOT a safety stat. Those suck, as they fail far to easily.
