Default Radiator leak

Hello. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.9
i know I’m going to have to buy a new radiator sometime this week whenever I get the time. But I was just asking if there was something I could use temporarily to fix my leak. I don’t think that there prob is becaue it is plastic it looks like. But I’ll post a pic of where is is leaking out of. It blew on me the other day moving some things and barely made it home. Luckily everything I was doing was within a few miles of my home. It has 2 leaked it looked like when I popped the hood and was able to pin point where the leak was coming from. I’ve already looked at radiators and the cost really isn’t that bad. Thanks in advance for any recommendations or suggestions

Nothing you can do. Once it springs a leak in that area, the radiator is done. Time for a new one.

Thank for the quick reply. That’s what I thought to and was anticipating. Just double checking

If you plan to keep the truck awhile, I would install an all-aluminum radiator, since they are repairable. See this thread and start searching for the CSF 2969.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use any of that stop leak crap. Quickest way to ruin an engine and cooling system.

+1 nothing to be done on the crimp seal. I hate plastic radiators because they can't be repaired, properly. I love plastic radiators because they are cheap......

yeah I've had many tell me the newer plastic end radiators are junk and planned obsolescence. Very nice link/find on that all aluminum radiator, may have to snag one up myself, idk how old the one in my used 95 ram is... I had my share of woes with the rad leaking/weeping around the plastic edge on my 01 3.9 ram I used to have, I actually got it repaired at a place and I think it just found its next weakest point and burst around the plastic when the aluminum part that was initially leaking got patched.

I checked into an all metal radiator, once, AND...time for intolerable time exposition, DING!!!...about 14 years back, I ran into the dreaded celibacy of the plastic/aluminum radiator on me Dodge. Always on a budget, 5 kids n a spend thrift wife, I took it to a radiator shop in Dallas. Thru a translator, this fella told me he could core my radiator AND replace the ends. He said the key was not busting the aluminum retainer tabs, and he'd do it for less than $100. Here I am 14 years later and around 120K+ more miles down the road and this radiator is still holding fast. There is a cheaper alternative out there.

Check and see if "Be Cool" makes one for your truck. It's well worth the money.
