Default UGH! Radio still not working!

OKAY, I’m a little heated at this point. The harness is back together, factory. Two plugs wired to the color code, one grey one black. ISSUE, get aftermarket wiring harness all wires up the right way and the radio doesn’t work. Take 12v constant, 12v Switched and twist them together, take red and yellow on aftermarket harness twist them together, now take those two Frankenstein’s and make one big mess and boom radio works but no station or settings memory. Door lights only work with key on. What. Is. The. Issue. I don’t understand I’ve put everything together the way it should be the truck is wired perfectly WTH!

Check your wiring diagrams again, and go by what the wires are supposed to be doing, not the wire color.....

Could also check and see if crutchfield has an instant adapter harness that plugs into the radio, and the stock harness, with no splicing needed.....

thats the issue I was repairing, a hacked up harness. I put the wiring back to factory cause they spliced everything together without the painless wiring harness and I hate that so now I have both factory plugs again with the painless harness. By color code I meant pink to pink red to red etc to put the factory plugs back in place.

It sounds like an issue with the constant and switched power wires and probably a ground wire too. Do the powered wires have power at the right times? Does the radio display dim when you turn on the truck lights?

The ground is good but I’m not sure about getting power at the right time

You need to separate the switched and constant power wires. Make sure the constant has power all the time, and the switched comes on with the key in the 'run' and 'accessory' modes only. Switched powers the radio and constant runs the memory functions.

i know but if they’re separated the head unit doesn’t come on at all. And the interior lights don’t work unless the key is on

Are the wires getting power at the right time? If the radio doesn't work with them separate, and the factory power wires are powered correctly, then there is an issue with the aftermarket harness.

Well, obviously 12 switched works since the radio works key on and memory only work when the trucks on. I’ll test 12v constant and see what happens I guess

Pretty sure you don't wire constant and switched together. That's why they're named that way. I just installed my second radio a couple weeks ago and like the first time, it went very smoothly with it all working right. Just use the crutchfield diagram.
