Yep lol everything in this truck is rusty and don't even think about using a ratchet and socket just go get a cut off wheel. Some idiot came down my 1.8 mile driveway and ran into my posts for my new garage and finally I have to figure out a way to lift this old cab off. Oh and the rear doors are stuck and I can't get them to open up

Default Noticed Something Odd

The truck started but didn't run and the guy said it needed a clutch. So I looked at it today and the transmission isn't connected to the diesel. Well come to find out it has the NV3500 and a 231 Transfer Case. I know for a fact it's a 8800 2500. Why would someone swap a 1500 tranny and transfer case?

Vacuum between the ears...... The NV3500 won't even bolt to the diesel... not that it would survive long behind it in any event....

Yeah that's why it wasn't connect. I know the NV4500 has a removable bell housing an the NV3500 doesn't. And this one doesn't. This got a little interesting

Should be markings on the pistons for which side faces forward. I don't know that it matters which way the rods go.... are they symmetrical?

There is a 4 to mark forward but according to the local machine shop an the FSM you can't switch banks but you can switch which cylinder (so #1 can go anywhere on that bank). I assume they are symmetrical because the same part number for all the connecting rods.

If they are all exactly the same, then why wouldn't you be able to switch banks? If you buy new ones, they aren't marked left or right........
