In an ideal world, with the t-case in 2hi, and the cad disengaged, the front shaft won't turn. However, our world is anything but ideal..... so, the diff is powered by the drivers side tire. Lots of stuff in there to spin, so, the parts with the least resistance spin. Now, none of them are likely spinning as fast as they would if the truck were actually in 4wd......

I have to lean towards tires. It has to be. Now I notice that I get a real bad shaking when my abs engages almost like rear wheel hop. Always something lol

Yep! They are 37s and we're just throwing weights off. Even the stock on ones. So they went with balancing beads. Here in the next two to three weeks I'm getting 40s (on 1500 axles ) and I'll see if that fixes it

Well, it likely won't vibrate as bad, until one of your front suspension parts breaks.

I'm going to test it. Finding any Ram 2500 axles around here are basically impossible. I have found a lot of 2wd 2500s but none 4wd yet. Do you still have yours? I'm going to be doing a write up in my restoration thread about eliminating the CAD to make it a live axle (on the 1500 axles) then repeat it for the 2509 axles (same procedure). I have found a complete 01 quad cab for $350 but it's cold back in PA (even colder here in Michigan in my hotel), so I'm going to wait until summer for that lol

Nope. The 96 is gone. I re-listed it, and sold it the next day. That rather surprised me, as previously, I had it listed for less money, for three months, and never even got a phone call.

I would like to know just how much eliminating the CAD will change gas mileage. That was it's intended function after all.

Good man! I'm probably going to have to but the bullet and spend $3500 for one axle that I don't have lol. But I can't see it affecting gas mileage that much. Maybe at the absolute most a loss of 1mpg

That's 10% drop for me.

But the reliability an instant engagement is worth it in my opinion. Here is my reasoning, if I'm stuck in mud between two objects they didn't allow me to turn the wheels my 4wd won't engage with the CAD.
