The replacement connector has all new screws on it. Mine original connector was also quite nasty on my '96 truck.

There was enough slack in the harness, that I could cut it, and still be able to put it back in the original position.

Oh I figured that just kinda being lazy for once lol it's not a must have right off just figuringthings out I still have a few more urgent repairs needed truck be dang near new by time I fix stuff. Fix one something else breaks gotta replace steering box and got a weird grinding in what we believe is transfer case intermittently and only in 2wd . When it does it if I move 4wd lever it stops

My philosophy on that is, keep fixing stuff until something breaks you don't really care about, then DON'T fix it, and the truck becomes far more reliable.
