Default Body control module

I have an 01 dodge ram 2500 5.9l. I was having issues where it wouldn't start unless I squirted starter fluid in it and then it would run but wouldn't make it out of second gear and also would only run as long as the battery lasted (alternator wasnt charging). The check engine light would come on and had a code for pcm. I replaced the pcm but the dealership said it was the wiring that went to the pcm that was bad. Long story short 600.00 later after 3 programs two diagnoses and replacing the wire the truck will start now but wont stay running it cuts off after about 5 seconds regardless of whether I'm revving the engine or not. they now said it's the body control module timing and control module part # 56020157ac.

My question is everything I look up for this part says that it controls lights door locks etc.. all the electrical but they are starting it some how disrupts the signal from the pcm to the fuel pump. Does this sound right? I'm about ready to let them have the truck because I dont want to pay them to keep throwing parts at it. It's an older truck. Any suggestions, thoughts, comments?

Your truck doesn't have a separate body control module that I am aware of.....

Does your truck have keyless entry? (you can pull a build sheet from here.)

Our trucks don't have a BCM unless it's a 01.5. They might mean CTM (a lot of people refer to them as a BCM) but that doesn't control what you are having an issue with.

Thanks that's exactly what I was thinking that the bcm that we have has nothing to so with the truck not staying cranked. If the dealership can figure it out then I think I'm done with it. Thank you for your responses.

I just read through some of the service manual for the 2001 trucks. There is a Central Timer Module/ Body Control Module with that part number in 2001 trucks and it does have ignition inputs and outputs running through it. It's located under the dash near the drivers right knee.

From the manual:
HARD WIRED INPUTS The hard wired inputs to the CTM include the following:
• CCD bus– - high-line/premium version only
• CCD bus+ - high-line/premium version only
• Cylinder lock switch mux - high-line premium version only
• Driver door ajar switch sense • Fused B(+)
• Fused ignition switch output (run-acc) - highline/premium version only
Fused ignition switch output (st-run) - base version only
• Ground (one circuit - base version, two circuits high-line/premium version)
Key-in ignition switch sense
• Passenger door ajar switch sense - high-line/premium version only
• Power door lock motor B(+) lock - high-line/premium version only
• Power door lock motor B(+) unlock - high-line/ premium version only
• Radio control mux - high-line/premium version only
• Tone request signal
• Washer switch sense
• Wiper park switch sense
• Wiper switch mode sense
• Wiper switch mode signal

If the truck will start and run for only 5 seconds each time, then I would think there is still a timing issue somewhere in the ignition circuit. There is a lot of good info in the service and parts manuals available for download in the FAQ section.

Wow thanks a lot. That's a lot of good info. I just wish I could figure out exactly what I need to do to get this thing running I guess the manual is a good place to start but I would be just as bad as the dealer just throwing parts at it. Lol. Thanks again

That would not cause it not to run

Wasn't there some issues with the ASD relay on these? Never experienced it just thinking I've read about it, not sure the symptoms, hopefully someone else can pick up my half thought here

Smile Alarm and keyless entry

I am new to using forums and not sure if I'm posting in the right place. If in the wrong place please remove, but if you can help it would greatly be appreciated with putting a PKE remote start with alarm and push button start into my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 P/U QUAD CAB SLT Laramie and is the Highline/Premium. If someone can connect the wires off this diagram to the wire colors on my truck would really help so I can see if I have it hooked up correctly and the aftermarket system is bad or if I got it hooked up wrong and how the 2 relays are suppose to be wired to the truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You
