47 RE Satrting to shift harder from 1-2
Hey Ya'll !
So starting this last weak my trans has started to shift a little harsher from 1-2 after its been driven for a while. I did the solenoid/sensor (Cascade) and fluid/filter change about 25,000 ago. I'm wondering if it could just be the solenoid/sensors needing changed again or if it might be something more involving the valve body due to it only happening when it gets warmed up. I've got 191k on it and not sure if it the original trans or not. I've heard that if it has over 100,000 on it, you should replace the whole valve body. Anybody with personal experience rebuilding/ adding a shift kit on one with higher mileage on it, or better to replace ?

Sorry it took a minute to get back to you. I checked the tv cable and all seems normal after everything gets hot. Think for now I'm just gonna go with a filter/fluid change and put a new pressure solenoid in it. I've been looking around and found they have the even better Chevy solenoid upgrade. Bigger than the cascade upgrade and supposed to handle the heat better.

Back in the day, they were actually better than the stock pieces, but, since then..... you can get heavy duty pressure solenoids, and those seem to deal with most of the issues the stock parts had. I don't recall if they are 'self-cleaning' or not though. (which is a large part of the problem, the stock pieces were not....) The GM pieces are though...... Guess it just depends on how much ya wanna spend. For most folks, changing the electronics generally only happens once in any event.

Update: I dropped the pan last week and there was a ton of shavings. On the pan there was bigger pieces stuck where it looked like the drum was throwing them off. Changed the filter and cleaned up the sensors and drove it till yesterday. Dropped the pan today and slide a new band up on the trashed drum. The sensors seem like they're functioning like they should but now getting funny stuff going on from 2nd to third. The seals on the accumulator piston hardly had any resistance at all when I stuck it back up in the bore (which wasn't scored at all). Is that possibly my 2-3 issue? Also curious how much life I can suck out of the band before doing a rebuild.
