Engine randomly cuts out, lights stay on
Hey guys,
Long time no post, suppose that’s a good thing though right? Lol.
Truck has been running great for months thanks to everyone’s help.
Today on my way home from work driving about 30MPH my trucks engine cut off. I didn’t even notice it, until I pressed the pedal and nothing happened. All the lights remained on and I lost power steering. Put the truck in park and shut it off. Immediately tried to turn turn it over and it would crank but would not fire up. Interestingly enough if I waited about 1-2 minutes it would fire back up.
Sat for a couple of moments and tried to do a little research. Checked my battery connections and my alt connections. Alt is a reman from autozone I have had for the last 4 months or so. This just happened today and it happened twice within 15 minutes of each other. Thankfully I was able to make it home.
Truck is a 1998 ram 1500 5.2L 2WD
I have a new distributor cap, plugs, wires, rotor.
Has anyone ever seen this before?

HeyYou I am going to look into the spark and see what I can find. I think they make an easy tool to check.

P1391 intermittent loss of CMP or CKP sensor signals
P1682 charging system voltage to low
P0320 ignition engine speed input circuit
battery was not being drained when the truck was going so I don’t think it’s the alt. I guess it could be bad though?
Not really sure what the top and bottom codes are. I have a feeling it’s the CPS. (Is that was CMP and CKP are?)
As I mentioned I have a crappy duralast or whatever autozones garbage is.
