1997 ram 1500 cluster/ exterior lights
LMC sells a HD relay harness. You could make one if you wanted
Finally found out the whole issue it ended up being a ground wire that ran from the battery and grounded to the radiator support. It wasn’t connected so I connected it back to the battery and everything came back alive like normal.
A lack of a ground wire won't burn up the connector like that so it seems you have/had two issues. This is a common issue with the second gens and there was a recall for the 3500's. As you see it wasn't limited to just the 3500. If you don't want to add/change the harness you can swap out the running lights with led's(no resistor ones). This will cut the amount of amps running threw the light circuit and "should" eliminate the problem. You will have to change the flasher to a HD one so the blinkers work correctly.

FYI, the switch and harness combo is available for about $38 via Am-Autoparts delivered to your door within the USA.
