Default Rebuild 5.9 (360)

Ok so since I'm stuck at home I might as well tear down the engine to replace the rings. Figured while I'm in there might as well put a cam in for more torque. What do you guys recommend? I already did the plenum fix. So here is my plan and would love input
Cam?
Maybe heads if needed for the cam
I need a torque converter, and recommendations?

Go with an RV/Towing cam. Something from idle or around 1000 RPM to 4500, at least. 5K would be better.

Stock converter should still work with that.

Keep in mind, max lift on the stock heads is .480. If your cam goes more than that, then you will also need springs, and such.

Have any brands? I'm getting my stuff from Rockauto. Other than the cam. Only one brand TC. I plan on doing a write up on freshening up the motor. What is the name lift with the heads so I don't contact the valve cover?

My advice is keep your build simple. I used a Hipotek cam, 206X. I'm happy with it. Stay with the 1.6 rocker ratio, Let the cam do the lifting.
Your heads are probably cracked between the valves so changing them would be recommended. get the odessa new castings, they are thicker. If on a budget just reuse your old heads after checking them over.
Since your in there put a high volume oil pump in as well.
I think I would go with a 2200 stall TC if I were to get back in there again. Just my preference, motor seems to be happiest in that rpm range. May not be good for towing though.

I never modded a Magnum mostly Hemis. I am probably doing the 1.7 Harland rockers. Heads are going too be checked for cracks if they are good in reusing them. Already have the high volume/high pressure one from Rockauto ordered. TC needs to be for towing. Not new to building engines just the magnums. This is a temporary motor until I finish building the 6.4l Hemi for the swap.

I think the 2200 stall converter will be pretty good for ya. It will allow the engine to get further into the power band before you start losing the torque multiplication effect. It'll be a little more forgiving on small gears, and big tires too.

They don't list the stall here. So know any other brands

TCI, and numerous other folks make 'em. In various calibers as well. (billet converter anyone? ) Check out transmissioncenter.net, or wittrans.com.

You said 2200 stall should be good? I did the stall test on my current one and it goes over the recommended RPM by about 400rpm, probably to many burnouts

Stall speed in kinda relative. It may be specced at X RPM, but, behind your motor, it goes to Y RPM, and behind someone elses motor, it goes to Z RPM..... it's a 'ballpark' kind of thing.
