I agree with HeyYou. Only rebuilt 2 transmissions (Well 1 1/2 if we are getting technical) and I followed YouTube videos. I also setup the parts as I took them out.

Back again. LOL
Anyways I wasn't worried about rebuilding it as much as I was about removing and reinstalling it. I have some physical ability issues I would rather not get into. I sent it to a shop and have it back now. It seems fine. He told me he found the reverse piston broken and the rear sprag working intermittently. He replaced those and rebuilt it and put it back in. He did not replace the torque converter because it looked brand new and he was trying to save me money. I saw it and it sure looked brand new. Anyways it still had no gears except park so he pulled it again and replaced the converter. Seems all is well again. I am assuming the converter was why I lost all gears. Thanks for the help.

Oh believe me I hate pulling them to, and I'm healthy lol. Maybe my lift will change that. Glad you got it back! I always replace the converter when I'm rebuilding a tranny

Yea, I told him if he would have called me I would have told him to replace it the first time no matter how good it looked.

Hey if you didn't tell him to keep it I would say that's a decent shop trying to save the customer money.

So after driving it a good bit more the only problem I can see is to shift up into 3rd I have to let up on the gas pedal all the way. He told me the cable bracket at the transmission was bent and he straightened it. Maybe he bent it just a little too far? It is adjusted as far as it will travel and it is just not quite lined up as it is supposed to be when unhooked. It also seems to shift into OD right after it shifts into 3rd. Maybe because the gas pedal is all the way up? It may even downshift into 3rd just a tad soon if that helps.

If the cable is not my problem what exactly controls when it shifts into 3rd? I am a little lost here.

Thanks in advance.

PCM controls governor pressure, which controls when the trans shifts, modified slightly by the TV cable. Make sure the TV cable is right, before you go tweaking anything else.

Thanks for the reply.
I was kind of thinking along the same way about the cable as well. If I unclip it with the end unhooked from the throttle body it does not travel far enough at the clip to line up the end of the cable with the throttle body attachment point like it is supposed to. I think I should try and fix that first. Have not looked at it to see how yet though. I will try and look at it soon and get back.

So I moved the bracket on the transmission to where I thought it should be. Moved it about 1/4" or so. Readjusted the cable to spec and it seems fine. Shifts when it should. I did however get the P1756 code again. Clear it and it stays gone. I am beginning to think I have a computer issue? It seems glitchy or something.

Anyways, thanks for all the help.

Have you replaced the governor pressure sensor/solenoid?
