Default Looking for transmission help 2001 46re

I apologize in advance for the lengthy post.

I bought a 2001 1500 5.9 v8 46re with 165000 miles on it. When I bought it the transmission would shift way too late, sometimes not at all until I would let up on the fuel. I checked the cable adjustment and it was close. I adjusted it past the point it should be and got it to shift right.

Figured I would do the maintenance on it. Dropped the pan, adjusted the bands, replaced the pressure solenoid (Borg Warner), transducer (OEM), 3-4 accumulator spring (was not broke), Filter and fluid. Shifted even better. Drove it for a couple of months on and off.

Fast foreward to last week. On the way to camp, it is a hour and 20 minute drive, the CEL comes on. Codes are P1756 confirmed and P1740 pending. The transmission tries to start out in second gear. If I put in first manually it shifts fine. I get to camp and reset it. It shifts good again and does not set the CEL on the way home. I drive it for a week and no light. Go to camp again today and get the light almost at the same place. Same codes. Same thing, starts out in second. I get there and reset it. Drive it home and even go the long way to drive almost two hours and no light.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Jim

Did you remove the valve body to replace the solenoids? And how did you adjust the bands, because I did post it on another post. The P1740 code is your lockup torque converter. Band adjustments should have 1/4 to 1/2 inch of free play on both bands.

I did not remove the valve body. Front band was torqued to 72 inch pounds, backed off 2 7/8 turns. Rear was torqued to 72 inch pounds, backed off 2 turns.

I think those are the ones in the service manual.

Those were the specs listed in the service manual. It shifts fine most of the time. The only time it did not was on my way to camp (twice). After I reset the code it shifts fine again.

Those are the measurements I found too for torque spec.

Definitely following this page, I'm having almost the exact same problem.

I think you are going to end up in the pan again. I would suspect that pressure is bleeding off somewhere. Would be interesting to drive with a scanner hooked up, and see what pressures are doing.

The tranny guru who was here at one point said that was to much. I'm not a transmission guy though
