Looking for transmission help 2001 46re
Here we go again. The transmission went into limp mode I am assuming because of the P0753 code that I could not reset. I sent it back to the transmission shop. I had him just replace ALL the electrical parts while inside the pan. His scan tool (snap on with a touch screen, do not know the model) could not connect to my computer. So I brought it home to try and figure out what was going on. Checked what I could and decided to buy a Snap on mt2500 on ebay.

Hooked it up and if I use OBDII it connects and does what I assume it should. Would not reset the code though. I could not connect if I went through the OEM part of the scanner. Kept saying "no communication, is the key on?" So I bit the bullet and just replaced the computer and the truck has no MIL, runs and shifts perfect. It shows no codes either. However the scanner will not connect through the OEM side. It will not read the vin either if that helps. I would like to get it to connect for any future issues. Anyone have any ideas? It calls for the #13 key for OEM things and the #20 key for OBDII, I suppose the key could be bad? I am using the same cable arrangements for both ways.
Thanks
Jim

The MT2500 I used for many years would rarely read the vin on any OBDII car/truck I plugged it into. I had to manually enter the various vin digits it wanted, and then everything worked as it should.
Your in limp mode probably has nothing to do with transmission. a bad or misreading up stream 02 sensors can cause your explained conditions I had the exact same issue with my 98 1500 I even rebuild the transmission but still acting up until I found my new 02 sensor was bad due to the consumption of antifreeze witch is hard on o2 sensors and cats. find what's causing limp mode before you waist more money on parts you dont need
I have had glitchy issues on and off since I bought the truck. So I bit the bullet and replaced the PCU. The truck shifts better than it has since I have owned the truck. The P0753 is gone and has never shown back up. I did get a P0455 which I will chase down eventually. I talked to the person that sold me the scanner. He sent me another K13 key and it reads everything, and will do tests etc. I guess the key was bad. Still have a few unrelated minor issues to work through but I like this truck and it is not rusted out at all. Thanks for all the help.
