Exclamation 01 5.2L (46RE) Trans Question

Have a quick question about the trans for the 01 1500 SLT Laramie 2wd with the 5.2L 318 engine and the 46RE trans. Mine is about shot, and found a used replacement for it on a 03 1500 2wd, however it is the 45RFE trans. Are these interchangeable to where I could purchase the 45RFE from the parts truck and have an operational transmission again? Currently we have the trans "fixed" (back alley mech special of stretching the bands to their max) and I don't feel comfortable driving it everyday as my work truck in that condition, and need to get the truck up and running as fast as possible so rebuild isn't an option.

Nope. Won't work. Electronics are completely different.

As HeyYou said won't work unless you buy an aftermarket transmission controller

Its not just the controller. It would be a complete wire harness and I don't believe a 545RFE will bolt up to a 5.2 engine. A 4.7 it would.

Yes you would need the wire harness but it would go to a aftermarket controller. In my research a 545RFE will bolt up as the Hemis I THINK uses the same bell housing bolt pattern. I have both went when I pull my 360 I plan on verifying it

There is one bolt that doesn't have a hole on the older blocks. The rest line up ok.
