Default OEM crate engine ?

On the fence about just keeping this damn thing. I can’t find a truck that’s 4x4 out here for less than 10k with less than 230k or so and I’m talking trucks 17-15 years old.

Id consider a crate engine , my only worry is I can’t really find an OEM with stock hp. I have a rebuilt tranny that runs fine but I don’t know how many miles is on it and how hp it can take.

the crate engine on summit with iron heads has 320 hp which is a lot more than factory power. I’d be really hesitant about running that much power on the tranny.

i can either dump the money for a new tranny from monster or dr evil or .... try to find an oem engine.

does anyone know where I find something close to stock hp so I don’t burn my transmission up ?

Junkyard and then rebuild it to factory specs

I think you should be fine with 320 hp engine. It's just 75 hp over stock (just shy from 1/3 of the stock hp ), and you could install a shift kit to your trans to make it handle the extra power.

I did a search on there and none of the engines list HP. What where you looking at?
