Upgrade to cummins ??
Smoking is the last vice I have left. I don't do drugs, I don't drink, (I may have had one beer this year......) I don't carouse with loose wimen (mores the pity.....), and just about everything will kill you these days. If I am gonna go, might just as well be from something I enjoy, right? Besides, smoking just shortens my lifespan, and the last few years of my life are going to suck right out loud in any event, so, I don't think I am going to be missing anything.

A Cummins would be great upgrade, it will tow that load like it isn't even there and they are cheap to get more power out of compared to the gas trucks, no gas engine tows like a good diesel does and that's a fact, a load that makes your 360 scream at 5000 rpm to maintain speed uphill a Cummins will do it easily at 2000 rpm.
I have owned many Cummins (a lot of 2nd gens 12 & 24 valves) and third gens. Personally they didn't impress me unless they were upgraded. I think you may have something wrong with your motor (if it's a 360) because mine with 40in tires and 3.55s would climb hills pretty easy. Obviously it if your money and you may love them. They are more expensive (Maintenance, oil, fuel) and when something breaks it is costly. For example a lift pump failed on one of mine. It was $600 to buy a known failure or $1500 to upgrade to something that won't fail. I swapped a 360 in it.
See if someone you know has one see if they will let you hook up your camper and the with it for a short distance up hill. If you like it buy one

I'm pretty scared of the maintenance costs with diesels. I'm up in canada and winters are crazy cold. See alot of diesels here that dont start in winter as good as a gas job. If i got a 3/4 ton to begin with i prob be a little more satisfied
