Default Clutch issues 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 quad 4x4

Installed a new prefilled master and slave cylinder assembly. Heres the problem. Now the clutch slips and clutch doesnt engage until the pedal is about 2 inches from the top. Mind you this is a southbend dual disk clutch. It seemed as though when installed the slave cylinder there was a lot of preload on it. Is this normal. And the plastic strap was on it when installed. So whats the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Are the hydraulics not allowing it to engage all the way?

Clutch pedal all the way up it seems as though there is a lot of pressure on the slave cylinder yet. Rod to long? Wrong part? Is this hydraulic setup the same in a gas vs diesel? Im more than likely just sending it back and buy a setup from southbend. I see that the slave is adjustable on their setup. Over twice the price though.

Can you re-compress the rod in the slave cylinder, and reinstall it, then let it expand out? Would also give an opportunity to see where the fork is at when it actually starts pushing against the pressure plate.
