Default Compressor Oil

Could someone tell me the weight or type of PAG oil used in a 2000 Ram? Also, could you tell me the total oil capacity of the system?
I appreciate the help.
FWIW Its a rebuilt compressor, on a 2000 engine, going in a 87 dakota.

I was gonna say it's on a tag, under the hood, but, that ain't gonna work for you.

From the 01 service manual, looks like 6.2 ounces of SP 20 PAG oil.

The total oil capacity is for a completely new system. Most compressors have oil in them

An 87 is for R12 refrigerant and the one you have is for R134. The systems use different oil!

Thanks, that is the info I need!!
FWIW, I kinda got a curve ball thrown at me.... In the beginning, I figured, I would flush and be using the ester based oil, since the 87 has a mineral oil (R12) (basically a 134A retrofit)

Well upon receiving my new compressor, it came with 3oz of PAG oil inside.
The instructions said, if additional oil is needed, use what the vehicle recommends....
I really did not want to use PAG due to it being incompatible with other oils, and being concerned that all is out of the evap. condenser, etc.
But I have no choice, just flush real well!!

Thanks again, for the type of PAG and volume.

You should replace the receiver/drier, This is where most of the oil stays.

Always replace the drier anytime a system is broke down..... Will only be reusing the evap, lines, and condenser.
