Black for oil? Or soot? I don't think changing your plugs is going to make any difference. I think your problem lies elsewhere. Do the compression test. See what your numbers look like.
I was soot. I’m going to do a compression test as soon as I find my tester. I had a my toy hauler and truck broken into and I can’t remember if my tester was in the trailer with everything else that got stolen or not.

yea it’s 8 for sure. I pulled the intake and did the plenum gasket that’s what started the truck do this that was about 2 years ago. At the time I thought it was just because it was running off the open headers but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Are the plug wires routed properly? Firing order??
im pretty sure they are. I found my compression tester. I’m going to pull all the plugs and try to check it tomorrow. And check to make sure the wires are routed correct.
