Default Head upgrade

👋🏻
Any tips for putting upgraded heads (EQ or Eldebrock) on, such as which gaskets to use or certain processes? Should i use stock length rods or longer? Plan on getting the Hughes airgap efi intake, big gulp throttle body and new single port fuel injectors. Should i get 2 port injectors? Don't want to kill fuel efficiency completley.

Which heads are you planning to use? EQ are steel heads and Edelbrocks are aluminum. EQ heads are more like a stock replacement with a much better flowing and stronger steel head vs the stock crack prone head. Edelbrock heads require the use of hardened pushrods, guide plates and chevy style rocker arms.

So go with the EQ heads, with the stock valve size. (1.94's??) The heads, with the air-gap, and a good set of shorty headers, and A TUNE....... (and a cam?? ) will have some serious low-end grunt.

These heads, keg and throttle body are in good shape if anyone is interested. I think he replaced the heads with newer OEM. I'm selling for 600, figured that's fair but not sure.

You can likely change the cam without pulling the motor, have to remove the radiator, and possibly move the a/c condenser out of the way. (don't think you have to discharge the system though.)

Gas mileage? Hhhmmm..... probably won't change much. Of course, initially, your gas mileage will be worse, as you will constantly be playing with that new-found power.

Not like these trucks were fuel misers even when they were new.

Even without the cam though, you will still need a custom tune to get the most out of your engine. Your truck is 96 or newer, right?
