Default 2001 ram major ?????

Hi again everyone . I've been messing with this for over a week now . the truck is a 01 ram 1500 2 wheel 5.9 L auto . I have a p0601 code on the pcm . but it is running so bad it won't move and it is dying . like it's jumped time or something . when it first happened I had another code also but I can't remember what it was and the ole lady threw the paper away it was wrote on . but I believe it was a random misfire or something like that . it all had me thinking that the pcm is bad . but now im not sure . please help !!!!

The P0601 is a fatal error. Memory checksum error. The PCM is toast. None of the other codes are relevant, as the PCM itself is bad.

I have a 2001 Chrysler that had the code for internal memory error and it runs fine. But as HeyYou said the computer is toast

It's been running fine with that code on it for a few months now .all of a sudden it started running super rough and dying . it is also making alot of noises from the lower rear of the engine . could the timing have jumped ? It has 332000 miles on it .

With that many miles on it, it's entirely possible.

See if you can find a junkyard PCM, just needs to be the correct year, engine and trans combo. See if it runs any better.

Turn the engine so #1 is in firing position, see where the rotor is pointing. (distributor.)

Default Update

Ok y'all . first I want to start with thank you everyone for your help . I bought a new pcm . it's running a lil better but I have a new code now . 1391 . which is a crankshaft or camshaft malfunction or timing chain jumped . so I pulled the dist cap off and got it up to tdc and the rotor button is pointing towards the passenger side . straight 90 degrees. I don't see any mark on the plate . but should it be on the number1 wire out the cap ?

Default Flexplate

Hello again . I put a new flexplate on this truck about 8 months ago . I just noticed it's broke again . would that make it run all rough and cut off when you put it in gear ??
