I am curious, will a stand alone, megasquirt, type system, or piggybacking be an option for me to get around the restrictions of obd1 with an egr valve? From what I've read so far it seems I'd need a wideband o2 sensor AND a narrow, but I only have one o2 sensor to begin with.
Yes it will. If you need 2 sensors just weld a bung on the exhaust

Upgrading to an OBDII system shouldn't be impossible.... Need the PCM, under-hood wiring harness, and dash harness from a 96, or 97 truck. As the newer trucks didn't have EGR, that opens up your choices on intake manifolds. However..... (and you had to know that was coming....) OBDII trucks used the 46RE transmission. (assuming yours is an automatic.) The 95 is the 46RH.... so, have to change the trans as well. Or, do something different for O/D, and TCC, and use a manual trans tune? Might work.
Tuning for an RH isn't really any different than tuning for a stick truck

Just need some provision for TCC, and O/D. Not sure that you can have the PCM handling it, without having issues with it wanting to control governor pressure sensor, etc.

Here's one option and a thread on here detailing it.

You could also convert to a 46re easy enough during the swap. The 96 engine harness would be drop on with a 95 engine and 96 46re

Yep, trying to avoid adding the cost of a transmission to the job though.

I agree. Would certainly make the conversion easier. One less aspect to worry about.

So now my question is; I'd have to luck out and just so happen that one of those he retuned is the same serial number as mine, right? Not just any 95 for a 5.9 will do and has to be specifically originally coded for my single o2 sensor setup, yeah?

Rather old thread here, I know, but I just HAD to log in for this...

Now, let me say first that I am in no way trying to be rude or troll with this question, okay? Nothing but respect over here, so please don't take offense.

Okay, so--do you understand what a serial number is? It's a numbering system that progresses as a series. That means one number, then another, and so on.

My point, if not obvious yet, is that it would be impossible for another truck to have the same serial number as yours outside of some kind of forgery situation, or else a very bizarre, unheard-of manufacturing accident or a defect, maybe. Just think about it for a second: if you and another truck have the same serial number, how would the department of licensing issue registration paperwork? And how would the cops confirm the ownership during a traffic stop?
