Default 2001 dodge ram p0735

Was driving my 2001 dodge ram 3.9 one day, my battery gauge went to 0 and truck felt like it was stuck in 3rd gear. Tried everything so finally bought new pcm for it. Ran perfectly for 2 days then did the same thing. Looked and looked for bad wiring couldn't find any. Bought an external voltage regulator for it, installed it and now my truck charges fine but it's still in 3rd gear or limp mode. I can manually go into 1 or 2 but D Is automatically 3rd and won't go higher. Im getting a p0735 code. Has any ever had this problem or know anything about it? Can't figure it out, any help would be greatly appreciated

That code doesn't make any sense..... You don't have a five speed...... You sure that's the correct code?

See if you are getting power TO the trans. Does Overdrive work?? (I am guessing "no".)

no overdrive does nothing. And I'll double check the paper I got from auto zone with the code, I also got an evap code but I'm assuming that's unrelated

Have a look at the wiring diagram on page 8W-31-2 of the service manual and you'll see that the alternator output, transmission control relay and leak detection pump are all interconnected. I'd poke around there, especially the splice 116. P1765 and P1495 indicate the PCM doesn't see 12V on the respective control lines.

would I need to replace my pcm once i fixed the wiring? I found where a few wires were kinda chewed up and touching and I fixed that. No change. I'm still going to keep looking for more bad wires I'm just wondering if it could've fried that part of my computer

Computer is fairly tolerant. If you clear the codes, and they come right back, something is still awry.

I fixed all the wires I found and cleared the codes no change. I ended up taking the transmission relay out and jumping #87 to #30 and it runs like nothings wrong. Not sure if it's a wire I couldn't find or a computer problem but it's running fine and I can't complain. Thanks for all the help and everyone else who did

Keep in mind pin 30 on that relay is hot at all times. Leave it like that, and it will probably kill your battery overnight.

Sounds like the there is a problem in the control side of the relay circuit. Broken wire, or bad driver in the PCM...... With the engine running, you should have power at pin 30, and also at pin 85. Pins 85 and 86 are the control circuit, PCM controls the relay be providing ground path on pin 86. So, see if you have power there, and see if you have ground on 86.
