Yeah, I realized the filter was built in after looking around.lol. I just thought it would have a in line as most trucks but hey, that is one thing less to replace.. I pretty much had a good idea of it was time to replace the pump when the needle never stopped bouncing. It's raining on and off here so this job is going to be fun but I am determined to get it done today. I am going to fully clean the tank once it's out since I am sure this is why it's starting to fail. It sat so long that I am sure the bottom has trash there. I am going to take the pump with me when I go to NAPA since I am not sure how many gallons it is? I am thinking it's a 26 gal from my last fuel up. I was trying to remember cost and price since I filled it up. If I did the math correct it cost me $117 at around $4.50 per gallon which would be around 26 gallons.
As to injectors, I just figured it would help some and a good price through 1A Auto. Thanks guys
For now that is all I can do is the pump. Damn on and off rain is slowing me down big time. I have the straps off and jack on tank. The fun and slow part now is to slowly lowering it down to get everything disconnected. Thankful I have it close to a 1/4 of a tank so not too much weight to deal with. I live on a dirt/muddy road so you know this is going to be fun. lol. Can't wait it's done. Learn something new everyday.
Sorry need to vent. lol. Sitting here smoking a cigarette ( Yeah I know they are bad for you) dealing with the last connection giving me a hard time. It's the fuel line going to the regulator and it doesn't want to budge. Sprayed it with WD40 to brake cleaner and it still wont move. Tank sitting on the ground with no issues but can't really move it to a better access so I had to take a break. Whatever that line is made, its kink but its like a hard plastic feel so when I put it back up, I am going to reposition it. It was kinked up there before I removed the tank. That doesn't seem to be right to me. Trust me when I say there is a lot of built up dirt there so this is why I am having so much issues. I have sprayed and blown air to clean as much off. It's so frustrating being so close. lol Thanks for letting me vent, time to go back again for some more punishment. lol
Update, Finally got it out and cleaned up . I still have to drain out the gas and clean the inside. I must say from looking in there. Its has some trash along with what looks to be a penny. Yes, I said penny.lol. Yes, I bought a Delphi pump. Can't wait to get it in and see how it acts. Thanks for the help guys.
Well....smoking + fuel tank work = always a good idea.
I'm pretty sure the last time I did a pump on a '99 ECLB I didn't need to drop the tank all the way down, I just lowered it enough to snake the old pump out and new pump in.
What kind of fitting is giving you difficulty? Plastic squeeze tab?

LOL, Didn't smoke next to the tank but more of I took a break away from it. Anyway, it was the fuel line but I did finally did get it off. Dirt was built up around the fuel pump about 4 inches deep. Had to do a lot of cleaning just to get in there. My road is almost like 4 wheeling when it rains. I took the tank out because I want to clean it out as well. I'm also going to pressure was underneath before I put it back in. Dropping the tank was very easy, just getting the fittings off was more of the pain due to so much dirt.
