Default Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 98 backfiring at around 2k RPM

Just wondering if I can get some thoughts on a mechanical problem
98 ram 1500 5.2(318)
At around 1500 - 2000 rpm it makes like a popping sound and the engine stumbles. If held at a steady rpm of 2k it will simply continue backfiring. If you push the gas it will smooth out. Runs Smooth at idle. Sometimes difficult to start but not always. Idk what could be the cause. Has anyone else had a similar issue?
I have recently replaced
Spark plugs
Plug wire
Cap n rotor
Ignition coil
Water pump
Timing chain
Idle Air Control
Triple Checked Firing order
Fuel Pressure stable at 50 PSI and does not go down once engine is off.
Ignition Pickup Coil
Crankshaft Position Sensor
Checked For oil in Intake(slight residue no pooling)
Thanks for any help i can get.

11/25/2023 NEW INFO: Found that when reving at around 3k rpm or so(when it starts backfiring) spark disappears. Oddly enough we pushed past 3k and held it and backfiring stopped. I currently am unable to reproduce the problem. No idea what is going on.

Welcome to DF.

Moving this to Second Gen Ram section for ya.

Did you have this issue before you did the work?

Might wanna pull the valve covers, and look at the valve springs..... Does the PCM give any misfire codes?

It had a code at one point but when I removed battery terminal for some work the code did not come back. So no code now but the previous code was p1391(I think). I will take a look at the valve springs.

Intermittent cam/crank sensor signal. If you don't have a genuine mopar crank sensor in there, probably a good idea to get one.

If you still have your original, I would be tempted to put it back in, see if anything changes.

I know they don't have a cam sensor but when mine thru the code it was the pickup under the cap and rotor.

Was the plenum gasket issue addressed?
