Did you solve this issue? I have a 98 5.9l magnum that's literally doing the same thing to me. I've replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap & rotor, OEM crank sensor and pickup coil, the EVAP canister and charcoal canister, both O2 sensors, checked for plenum leak.... Nothing on all counts. I even replaced the safety neutral switch to address the issue with my reverse lights staying on with my night time taillights, which still didn't fix a thing!
Intermittent cam/crank sensor signal. If you don't have a genuine mopar crank sensor in there, probably a good idea to get one.
That's not true at all because I just replaced both pickup coil and put in a "Genuine Mopar crankshaft sensor" just 20mins ago and it still is doing this sputtering and backfiring crap around the same RPMs...
So what else could it be? Because, I literally replaced everything single thing the original poster replaced as well, and it's pissing me off big time! Granted that my 98 1500 RWD has a 5.9 but there practically the same.
