Default 1996 dodge 1500 won't go into gear

I have a 1996 dodge 1500, 5.2L 4x4 with a 46RE transmission. I rebuilt the transmission and put it back into the truck and now wont go into gear. None of them. Could it be the pressure sensor cylinoid? I'm not sure what info to give in order to helped with the diagnosis of the problem, so please ask if there is more needed.

Unplug the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans. (disables all electronics in the trans.) Will it now go into gear?

Then you have a mechanical problem..... Check fluid level first, engine running, in neutral. See what ya get.

Yes, I have the correct amount of oil in the transmission. It's a 4x4, but I've tried putting it in 2 wheel drive and it feels like it engages. And it feels like it transitions between gears when I move the handle on the steering column, but nothing actually engages, it just reves up, but doesn't go anywhere

What was wrong with it? You can do a pressure test to see if you have correct pressure.
Test is on the last page...

Ok, so some updates.... this project has turned into a complete makeover between two trucks, in the hopes that I can get at least one of them functional. I got a 1999 Dodge 1500, basically the same exact truck as the 96, only its a 99. Both have 5.2L motors and from what I can tell, both have 46re Trannys. Also, one is a single cab with a long bed and the 99 is a duel cab with a short bed. After purchasing the 1999 (primarily for parts for the 96) I found that the person who sold it to me lied about everything and turned out to have a siezed motor and bad tranny. So, I took the motor and tranny from the 96 and pit it in the 99 just to find out that the wiring harness does not match up with everything else original to the 99. So I am kind of stuck with what my options are at this point. Do I have any options other than swapping all the sensors or rewiring the harness with the plugs from the 96 harness? I'm sorry If this is confusing. If more information is needed in order to come up with a solution, please let me know!

That should actually work just fine.... The 96 motor will have an extra temp sensor, but, the 99 didn't use it anyway. The 96 trans will have the VSS in the tailhousing, but the 99 didn't use that either.... There might be some sensor differences, for the ones that the 99 harness won't plug into, swap in the 99 parts. It *should* work.

Ok, that's awesome. I was really hoping I didn't just do all of this for nothing! Thanks for the advise
