I have a '96 Ram 1500/5.2. I replaced (under warranty from autozone) the lifetime warrantied fuel pump that had been in my pickup for over 20 years (bad gas guage sending unit). The new one lasted about 2 years n crapped out. I absolutely abhor dropping the gas tank to change the pump. Any one have any suggestions as to who makes a 'relatively' reliable replacement fuel pump these days...outside the dealerships which prolly don't anyhow???
That should be fine. Rock Auto is typically hard to beat for most of the parts they carry price-wise, since they buy products in bulk quantities and do most of their business through their website with very little human interaction.
My problem was...I bought the original lifetime pump some 20 years earlier n I don't remember what 'exactly' I paid for it. It was however, a lifetime warranty pump. Problem with this spate of "cheap chinese or mexican made junk" that's flooding the U.S. market, what's got longevity, opposed to what's gonna crater 6 days, 6 weeks, or 6 months down the road? Thus my question. I didn't even get 2 years outta this pump. If I go back to autozone, I'll get a free 'replacement' pump, with a built in grenade fuse that's getting shorter almost by the day!
Ya know?
