Got home from work and managed to get the belt, fan shroud, AC compressor and AC compressor bracket removed. Using the LH bits I started small and worked my way up to 7/32 before I decided I didn't want to risk damaging anything and decided to tap it to 1/4-20. Seemed an appropriate size...?

Followed the new sensor install procedure with a new sensor and got her all tightened down properly. Went to start the truck and she fired up the first key turn. Shut her down and tried again - no start. Took a few more attempts before she fired off. Pulled the sensor and it appeared like the rib got partially sliced off by the cam...? Trimmed it and followed the used sensor install procedure. Didn't have the official Dodge sticker but used a piece of paper to set the air gap - close enough, right? Went to fire it up and fired instantly. Shut down and attempted again - no start. Tried again - fired right up. backprobed the CAM sensor and not getting a constant 5V at the signal return and getting 5V on the feed side... Thinking maybe another crank sensor might be in Diane's future...

That's as far as I went for today. Needed to come inside and clean up and make my dinner - wife went out after work for a coworker's retirement.
Got a little head start on the work for tomorrow! And good thing too - apparently this evening I was volunteered to do wheel bearings over this weekend on a mini cooper...

That v10 I refereed to earlier in the thread that's been for sale for cheap because he cant get it to spark... Guy lowered it to $400 today! HAHA! SO TEMPING! It's a 1995 though. But a lot of new parts on it from the guy trying to get it to work.... Hmm...

RIGHT?!
Gotta get everything straight on this baby first though... Not too sure the k1500 would be up to the 2hr tow back home with that pig behind it.

Picking up, fixing and delivering that mini cooper kind of messed up the plan for the day... Going to try and get out in the shop bright and early tomorrow morning though!

WHEN....you go buy that '95 I'd buy the engine wiring harness, PDC, PCM and that little silver ICM box behind the coolant reservoir as reserves/swaps for my '95. 4x4? Hold on to that transfer case.

Sounds like you need the truck more than I do! Haha! I can PM you the ad if you'd like? It's from the Facebook marketplace. Or could even contact them and get their information for you...?

Alrighty so got the truck fully tore apart and back together again.... She's waiting for RTV to set up overnight before I fill the coolant and oil back up to fire her up...

Took a lot of pictures and wrote down a lot of things so I could do a writeup of sorts if anyone's interested? Feel like everyone in this thread has done this job before though 😂

The oil actually came out as OIL this time. 😂 I think I've managed to clean a bit more gunk out of the system as the beginning it seemed to come out almost black and towards the end it looked a lot more fresh...? Maybe getting more sludge/sediment out of there...?

Anyway - oil pump cover - NOT the issue. All screws were VERY tight when I got it removed. Like I was afraid I'd bend the torx bit removing them, tight.

I removed them to check if the case had been worn/damaged and everything looked fine.... For the most part...

Could see a very slight amount of damage to the case...

Packed the rotor with lithium grease - made with I had the rotor in the exact position it needed to be in for reinstall beforehand.

Torqued the screws back to spec (125in/lbs - from what I could find...?) and peened the heads.

Thought about scraping off the whole inside of the cover but decided against it because....

TIming chain seems like could be a little bit on the loose side but since I didn't think about ordering one I suppose that'll have to wait for now - this truck has got to run and drive itself out of the shop tomorrow for the Chevy project. Now that I've done it I don't think I'll mind tearing this apart again to replace it later... 😁 Was definitely quite a bit more than 1/8" of play...

MANY details left out but figured I'd just keep it "short" for this post. Haha!

As I said earlier... Re-assembled everything and waiting for tomorrow to fill the fluids back up...

Now what's concerning is the pump definitely doesn't seem like that was the issue... While I had the pan dropped I checked the torque of the pickup and was able to give it a little more but still... I'm worried there's something else going on...

Bought 15w-40 a new 51515XP filter and stabilizer to put in this fill up. Was concerned I'd find that the oil pump wasn't a problem so figured thickening things up might help...? Haha

No- I didn't check. I'll be getting in there again for the timing chain.

Yeah... I'm going to have to wait a bit before I spend more money on the trucks. Haha!

Maybe a couple of paychecks and then I'll be getting a timing set, thermostat and new oil pump...

Decided it was about time to do the tranny fluid and filter change. So got that done and then filled the whole truck back up with fluids.

Oil pressure was crazy at startup - 72 psi but went down to the 30's when it got warm. *Came to the realization I'll be needing to do a thermostat was the truck never got about 150degrees today....*
Drove the truck in to town - about 15mins one way. By the time I got in to town I was holding about 20-22PSI at 55mph (1.5k RPM) and when I came to a stop at idle it was about 10PSI.
Left the truck running as I went into the convenience store for a drink and came back out - was probably about 5 mins with the wait in line - and the truck was holding 10PSI and wasn't making any weird/ticking noises. Good sign! haha!

Got all the way back home and still the truck never got above 150 degrees (would get up to operating temp before) and was still holding 10PSI at idle. This is with running 15w-40 oil.

She was shifting a little funky in the lower gears ... But might just need to do some more TV adjustments. I didn't do any band adjustments when I had the tranny open this morning as I hadn't been having any shifting troubles.
