Default Please help transmission problems

So I bought this truck, and been told teams been rebuilt, it also has been sitting for 10 yrs. 2002 2500 V8 auto 4x4.
Truck had problems shifting out of 1st to 2nd, sometimes won't downshift to pull hill, sometimes won't down shift when I'm sitting still. It went in to a neutral state when driving and redlined.

I pulled the pan and found a good bit of metal or sludge on magnet. Found some metal chunks. Can anyone give me good news, i don't have the money to get it rebuilt. This is why i don't buy automatic vehicles.
If someone comments i might be able to send pictures. It won't let me

If you need to save money, you can rebuild it if somewhat mechanically inclined. The tranny will have to come out.

The snap ring is from the overdrive unit and the other is from kick down band, May have a broken strut or loose band adjustment.

Yeah, not an inexpensive proposition..... I wonder what happened to the days of getting your trans rebuild for 1200 bucks or so..... Not like that much has changed in how they work.
