This guy has a newer truck (1999) but your problem may be similar.

Check the back of your speedometer and see if the solder joints look good or discolored like his do.

Thank you for the video, ill check but im not really to familiar with soldering. ive only ever done it for speaker installation which is extremely easy, seeing as this is on a much smaller scale i wouldnt be as confident in fixing it myself so if this is my issue a new cluster will need to be in the works

Is the check engine lite on? If the PCM isn't getting vehicle speed info, it *should* set a code.

I would imagine Brake and ABS as well.

Are you getting voltage back TO the sensor??

So it's the return wire that is the problem. Depending on what year your truck is, there may be a splice under the hood where the signal splits. If your truck is 98 or newer, it's just a straight shot to the PCM, and the PCM tells everyone else what speed is. So, if you are newer, and the PCM isn't getting a reading from the rear wheel speed sensor, you know which wire is bad. I THINK that it just stranded copper wire, and not twisted pair, or something equally as esoteric.... so, if ya don't wanna trace it to find the break, just replace it. Call it a day.

Im in a 99, and where is the pcm located?? Is it the controle module under the hood? Or in another location? If i cant see the break anywhere by the pcm ill just replace the wire coming from the pcm and connect it to the exsisting wire section i know is good
