Default Now this is strange.....

Well usually im pretty mechanically inclined but this situation has got me lost. Im having a problem with the truck and heres how it goes. I was going home on the highway and all of a sudden i lose all power and i hear this loud hissing noise. so i stop and i step on the gas and there is hardly any power whatsoever. So i start to barely get going again and the hissing gets louder everytime i step on it. When i get home the truck has no power at all. And when i opened the hood and give it gas from the t.b. it makes that loud noise from the passenger side near the headers. Now i dunno if this is a clogged cat sitchyashun but whatever it is it stole all the power from the truck. If anyone knows or can help with this any info comments or just general 2 cents will be appreciated. Thanks!

yep thats one of the syststems do a serch on cloged cat youll find lots of info... the reason you have very little poser is cuz you have too much pressure in the exhust system it would be like if you caped off the end of your tail pipe or if you have ever been 4wheeling and crushed a pipe. to check it ithere unhook the manifold from the exhust ans see if it rund better dont run it long and its still not gonna run good but ittl be better, or take out your o2 sencer before the cat and see if its better

r u blowing any smoke out the pipes? in an extreme sitchyashun your intake gasket could have poped... its strange that a cat would all of a sudden collapse on itself and clog that quick... normally it takes a bit of time to clog.. but ya never know it could have blew out and clogged itself...i defentatly wouldnt run it too much w.o taking care of it.. clogged cats lead to extreme heat build up and eventually cracks and engine failure in most extreme cases...

well it's been rattling for about 3 weeks underneath i dunno if this "rattling" is the cat or not. But it would rattle really bad when i was in park and just at idle. But it would either quiet down or quit when i put it in drive. Also, in that three week span the engine area i could hear the exhaust. sound like a an exhaust leak from the headers to me. I could also feel a loss in power in that three week span. The worst rattling was when i first started it in the morning or daytime when the truck is cold.

edit: no smoke out of the pipes.
