This is a much more fair fight - brand new trucks, off the truck! (I'd hate to buy from that dealership)

Wow, a 2.9 V6 stock in the Bronco II vs a 4.7 V8 in the Ram. Surprised!

The reason a lot of fords dont do brakestands is because the rear end locks up immediatly, and the power only comes on after about 2500rpms in the 5.4. however my buddy has an 05 FX4, and my dad had an 06 XTR f150, both with the 5.4 and both trucks will spin both tires fairly easy. my 03 (2 valve 5.4) has no problem at all braking the back end loose. the only reason dodges feal powerful is because they one wheel peel every where which gives the drive an illusion of power, but at the end of the day, the ford would drag it all day long. Dodge's have really "trucky" motors. They have alot of low end grunt up until about 15 ft. then they have nothing.....
no.no.no stock to stock 5.9 all the way 5.4 yet with a pos rear end still has nothing you can talk all you want with your 5.4 i would be upset spending that much on a truck too if it didnt have **** comp to a truck half the price tag
You may win the race, but the Ford guy can spell and formulate a sentance better than you.
Not to mention bringing back a nearly 3 and a 1/2 year old thread
I'm a Ford guy, but i'm not going to come into your guy's forum and bad-talk Dodges. My advise has always been to stick with what works for you the best, and for me that's Ford. All of the big three make good trucks that are more than adaquate for our needs, and compared to what the rest of the world has; they are total overkill. Each of the big three has had its share of issues of the years, so you just have to decide which ones mean the least to you and go with that brand. With that being said, I have noticed some trends over the years.
Dodge (trucks) - The 5.9 seems to have more horsepower than the Chevy 5.7 and definately more horsepower than my Ford 5.8. On the flip side it seems to have the least low-end torque of the 3 (at least down low where you need it in a heavy truck)
Chevy (trucks) - The 5.7 is in the middle with a good combination of low-end torque and plenty of horsepower.
Ford (trucks) - The 5.8 has LOTS of low-end torque, but the restrictive heads and cam that make that torque don't allow it to generate much horsepower. The 5.4 that replaced it has good horespower, but is a torque monster.
I once witnessed a dodge with a v10 trying to pull a firebird out of a ditch on a very muddy road (no idea why the firebird tried it). He was using about a 15' tow strap and couldn't get him out. Another guy showed up in a equally equipped chevy with the 6.0 v8 and another strap and hooked it up while the dodge was letting his trans temp cool down. They decided to have a little tug-of-war with the firebird in the middle and I witnessed the chevy (in reverse) pull the firebird and the dodge trying to go the other way about 50 yards down the road. Both trucks had 6inch lifts and 35in baja claws, not sure about lockers.

i love my 5.9, but honestly...the best truck motor i ever owned was the old ford 4.9 I6. i put 3000lbs of scrap in the rear end (broke a leaf) and that engine didnt even know the difference. sure it wouldn't beat my ram in a race even with its leaky plenum, but it could haul like hell for a 6
