Which is better--Triton 5.4 vs Magnum 5.9

only 120 more hp and 75 more ft/lbs of torque and the motor is 2 more cylinders and 2.9 more liters! not to mention the top speed of the srt-10 is only a few more mph. Lightning FTW!

That leads me to believe there's probably a lot more untapped potential in the SRT-10. I would imagine that if the speed isn't limited by some sort of governor, then it is by gearing. 120 hp and 75 more ft/lbs should be way more than a few mph, the gearing is what gets itto a certain speed at a certain distance. Besides all that, top end isridiculous way to judge a vehicle, how many times does anyone run all out anyway?0-60 mph and 1/8 and 1/4 mile speeds and times are much more important IMO.

Yeah, but I'd chalk it up to being the relatively new kid on the block eventually somebody will find a way to tap more juiceout of that viper engine, and get it to the ground.

It's not that there bad, but in comparison to chevy and ford transmissions, they don't last nearly as long, and are much more prone to having issues,
Oh, and the ZF-6 in the Super duty's? Biggest POS manual tranny ever. Hammer them in 6th, and you've got a 5 speed. The NV 5600 is a far superior transmission.
Edit:
And for all you "let's hook chains" types; I've got a bone-stock40 year old Jeep with a 134 horsepower inline 6that will drag any of your trucks wherever I want to, on any surface. [sm=smarty.gif]

On what is this opinion based? I can tell you I've replaced FAR MORE 700R4's, 4L60's, A4OD's and 4R100's than A518's or 45/46/47RE/RFE's. Chevy finally got it right with the Allison, but their half tons and fullsize/midsize SUV's still have lots of problems. Ford still hasn't got it right.
