The 46RE/RH is the transmission that's found behind the 5.2/5.9. The 47RE/RH is found behind the CTD and V10. The 518 pan will fit the 46RE/RH. I'm also getting the impression (from looking at these other pans) that it will fit the 47RE/RH as well, which is a 618 transmision. Why they use so many different model designations is beyond me [&:]

As far as the band adjustment, the list is indeed incomplete. In the past we've come to the conclusion that the adjustments for 98 and 99 are the same as 97 and 2000.

Also, it's important to note that the band adjustments are in INCH pounds. There have been more than a few people that thought it was FOOT pounds....and their band adjustment ended with their truck on a flat bed. [:'(]


I know a few people that have installed them already. Theirs have all had the bung.

I see summit lists all of the Mopar pans as not having them, even though it says right in the description "and an extra hole for a temperature gauge." [8D]

 

The same pan fits all 727, 518, 618, 46RH, 46RE, 47RH, 47RE and 48RE transmissions. Want more model designations? The old 904 has modern day decendents just like the old 727- A998, A999, A500, 40RH, 40RE, 42RH, 42RE etc. etc.

 

My pan is painted steel...The truck only has 42k on it,12k the last 4 yrs. The paint is bubbled up and one corner is dripping a couple drops a day. I figure getting a cast pans will solve the problem forever. Hope to have the truck till it falls apart. As much as i drive it ....should be a few yrs

 

Got a B&M from summit racing...$136.95 Pan,gasket,filter extention and bolts.... part #BMM-10280.....filter was about 16 bucks,Total was about $180 with shipping.

The 46RH 46RE 47RH 47RE 48RE are all the same trans. just RH/RE indicates if its a hydraulic or electronic governor. The 46/47/48 is a "size". Basically more clutch plates.

 

The mopar pan will not gain you hardley any fluid capacity. Trust me, Been there done that. I also had the B&M one and it wouldnt fit my 46RE tranny, because the solenoid hit on one of the internal cooling fins. It would fit the RH trannys. also when it says that there is 2 extra quart carrying capacity it is only for the 727, 518. It is normal capacity for RH and RE trannys. TRUST ME AGAIN.

THe only two that I know that give you extra capacity are the TCI pans and the Mag Hitec pans. The TCI offers a 2 quart capacity and maybe a 4 quart capacity. Mag Hitec only offers a 4 quart pan.

I have the TCI and its great. It has a drain plug and all. No sensor bung but I didnt care because if a sensor was put in the pan you would only be reading fluid that has already been from the cooler.

GET the TCI pan they are worth it. My tranny ran 10 degrees cooler with it.

 

Summit says the B&M pan is 4qts larger....if not,i can just "modify" the internal cooling fin with a grinder

Also,Does anyone have the link for adjusting the tranny cable for a little firmer shift?

 

it is no where near 4qt extra.
It is 4 qt extra for the 518 and 727 trannys but not for the 46RE. I posted the pictures above. The Mopar pan is the same capacity as the B&M, but minus the cooling fins.

GET THE TCI PAN! Its 10 or 20 bucks more than the B&M and you get more holding capacity.
