Man i havent replaced the crank sensor yet, because my truck has been running like a champ for the last two weeks with an exception of that one little time my truck sputtered about two days after i put in the VSS sensor. So i was holding out on the crank sensor, but on the way to work this morning my truck acted up again looks like im going to have to buckle down and go ahead and put the crank sensor on...hopefully it will fix my problem...i think it will.
hey guys, while engine idling, try flicking with fingers, small wires harness plugged into bottom of coil,(design flaw is that continuous vibration to harness from cooling fan flow, eventually breaks wires near connector) My nickel!

I didnt want to update on here about my problem because i felt i would jinx it, but after 1.5 weeks i think i am alright.
My truck has not sputtered once since i put on the crank sensor. If is finally fixed, but MAN! that crank sensor is hard to get to.
but anyway...this is to show my appreciation for everyone on this forum that took the time to help me fix my problem, it has been doing this for almost a year and it is not finally fixed.
i appreciate it guys.

i got a similar problem. i read all of the posts and see how helpfull you guy's are so decided to post my problem. i have a 1999 1500 5.9 4x4 sport that just decides to die after about 15 min. of driving or just getting hot. it won't crank up untill in cools off, but the strange thing is that i turn on the ignition and all the lights come on but the gauges don't move. normally when you turn on the ignition, the gas gauge and the tempeture gauge will rise, but in my case they don't. HELP! PLEASE!
Not throwing any codes? No CEL? Any other indication? Sounds like the PCM getting hot and shutting down cause without any codes ... ???
