RE: 5.2 to 5.9?
I would think it would be a direct swap as all the extrenals are the same. I do believe you will either have your computer reprogramed, or cheaper get the one that came with the motor. But I think it would have to be reprogramed also, so it would have your gear ratio and tire size, trans etc. Would be cheaper to get the motor and a hypertech programer and go that route.

RE: 5.2 to 5.9?
I completed the same swap in my 2001. You must use the flex plate and crankshaft damper from the 5.9 for this swap as the 5.9 is externally balanced by these parts where the 5.2 has internal engine balancing. When you pull your 5.2 take a look at the differences and you will see what I mean. Without these balancing pieces the engine will try and jump right out of the truck. Very ugly.

RE: 5.2 to 5.9?
Brought the motor home last night, it's amazing how similar everything looks. Already figured out that I've got the 136 amp alternator on my truck. I'm going to try using the existing wiring harness and PCM to start with. Also going to go ahead and fix the plenum gasket, and cut down the stock intake manifold while it's out of the truck. Discoved that I live within 15 miles of a Mopar performance shop, Hughes Engines... [sm=icon_rock.gif]

RE: 5.2 to 5.9?
Swap completed!!
My replacement motor was a longblock with all assesories, wiring harness and PCM. I ended up using the wiring harness from my truck, everything plugged in and works fine. I'm also currently running on the 5.2 PCM. I'm awaiting a build sheet for the 5.9 to make sure it's got provisions for the tranny and such. Only thing I swapped from the original motor was the bigger alternator, and the a/c compressor (since I didn't want to loose all my refrigerant and screw with recharging it).
Overall a very simple swap (concidering it's an engine) and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
I'll try to get some pics up in the next few days.
