I spent almost the entire day buttoning everything into place. Got the transmission braces, transmission dust cover, starter, intake, injectors, fuel rail -- the works, installed. I noticed, after the intake was installed, that there appears to be some type of opening/hole near the distributor. I don't recall anything going in there. Here is a picture of it, centered in the picture:

Now, I cut the tab off of the neck for the t-stat housing; however, I misplaced the gasket. That is why you won't see it in the next series of photographs. The main problem I am encountering now is where bolts go and how things bolt into place. I am a bit fuzzy with the coil and tensioner at this time. I have most all of the wires located and in their old paths. I plan to ship my throttle body to Fastman on Tuesday, so that is on hold as well. If I can get everything into place I can at least prime the system until the new throttle body arrives.

Oh, my main problem is that the dipstick won't slide down the tube. It gets to a point and then stops. Any ideas what the snag could be there? I had to dip the bottom of the tube in oil just to get it to get into the hole.

Im taking my intake manifold off in a couple days... thinking about grinding mine down too. How far down did you grind it. I saw your pics but i was wondering if you had a specific point that you went down to.

the hole in the back... is it in the intake manifold? or on the block?... the only thing that comes to mind back there if it's in the block is the oil pressure sensor... from the pic, I believe that intake hole is empty. someone else should be able to confirm this. as for the coil, and tensioner... here's a pic of mine, not sure if it'll help much or not but at least you can save it & zoom in some.

The hold in the back is on the intake. I had already installed the oil pressure sensor at that time. I think you are correct about the hole on the intake being empty. I forgot to mention that I am missing a bolt/screw on my intake for the injector rail on the driver's side rear. I thought something else went into that spot, but I guess I was incorrect.

I am also trying to figure out how the throttle body and all speed control cables and brackets fit into place.

I went down 1½"; however, my machinist said I should have just cut out the entire rail and smoothed it all down. Since I was pressed for time I opted not to do so and will revisit that at a later date.

I just got done searching the Dodge forums for information on Shorty headers. I think I am going to get the Gibson headers (nickel or stainless, haven't decided yet), wrap them in header wrap, and then get my catalytic converter replaced via the warranty (if that's possible). I know it rattles; however, some of you have me convinced to install a Flowmaster setup. I am not interested in any of that Cat-back setups if I am going to lose an O2 sensor.

Spoke with the engine shop last night and he stated that the most likely problem with the dipstick not co-operating is that it's hitting the diverter in the pan and can't bend. I am attributing that to the lack of lubricant, so I'll squirt some oil down there tonight and see if I can get it to move. I need to look at a few more trucks on the lots to figure out where everything goes under the hood. I also need to post up some pictures of my 2-core brass radiator with brass side tanks. I got that thing for a STEAL! (about $125).

Got more buttoned up today. Check out my 2-Core Brass Radiator that I was able to score for $125! Damn, that thing is sweet. I have a picture of my old radiator there for comparision. Also note that a previous owner had the check valve removed from the transmission lines. I replaces the old length of flex tube with a new length.
I will be ordering my flex fan this week and am awaiting my Fastman TB. I turned the engine over a few times today to prime it with oil. I will do the same when I get the TB and everything else reconnected. I need someone who has cruise control to either send me a picture of what everything looks like under the hood, or post it here. I need all angles so I can determine bracket and hose positions.

I am curious where you found info that said cutting the runners shorter was better for low end tq?

I am a ford guy, but, looking to switch fields, and, to my understanding, longer, rectangular runners offer more low end tq then shorter runners. Short runners=high rpm, long runners=low rpm.

Not trying to start anything, maybe the dodge motors are differant? Either way, educate me.

I am trying to find all the performance info I can on the magnum motors, I think in the next week or 2, I will have the next victim in my driveway
