Well, driving home it kept cutting in and out. It's not killing it, the truck just has a funky quaking to it. I am positive that it's the engine. The CEL light came on, but my code reader couldn't pull anything. I cleared the code (funny since the code reader couldn't find it). We'll see what happens when I drive to work tomorrow.

well since it's not running right, maybe you should consider testing the crank/cam sensors to see if one could be flakey. on the cam sensor you could have pinched a wire causing a problem with it.

Other than that, the truck runs like a dream.

ok, so my list is not applicable to all obdII setups... [&:]
yeah, sounds like you get to crawl onto your motor again

Your list is compatible with OBDII. The P1391 is a Chrysler specific code. Anyway, I jumped into the engine last night, burnt the **** out of my hand removing the Crankshaft Sensor (with the aid of my son) and found that the end was a bit greasy/dirty. I inspected the harness and found no evidence of broken insulation. So, I throughly cleaned the sensor in my solvent tank, wrapped the wire that is close to the sensor in electrical tape, and then taped the convolute in place so that the harness is protected as is runs out of the transmission.
Now, when I drive at low speeds everything seems fine. Once I get above 50mph, there's still some jerking and even some popping coming from the engine. This is noticeably pronounced when I have Overdrive turned off. When Overdrive is engaged, the jerking isn't as bad. I am thinking that I could have one or two bad injectors. I drove all the way to work today (75mph on the Interstate for 35 miles) and the CEL did not illuminate. I'm wondering if the TPS is creating noise that's interfering with the transmission, or is it still in the engine? I have the plug wires all routed properly and covered with convolute. I am confident they are set right and there are no misfire issues. I am wondering if the timing may be a bit off.

you can test the injector coil resistance and then put a mechanics stethescope on it and hear if it's actuating or not. if it is then it should be fine. dirty however you would not be able to tell... when you reset the pcm the 1st time, how long was it before the codes came back? you may not have enough miles on it yet to set the code since the last pcm rest.
timing is controlled by the pcm off the crank sensor. my suggestion is to have a look at the cam sensor next... it is responsible for the injector timing. if you know anyone who has a magnum motor that would let you borrow the 2 sensors for a day or 2, swap them out. a wrecking yard may also be a good place for cheep debugging parts. they wont guarentee them but it's worth mentioning. we have a company here called pick-n-pull that sells stuff off cars hella cheep. you might try to find a yard like that local...

Those are my next steps, Steve. Actually, I've got a guy at O'Reilly Auto Parts who gives me freebies and takes care of me. He ordered a Camshaft Sensor for me last night so I can look at it. Chances are he might let me try a new sensor (or two) to see if either is the deal and return them if they aren't. When I last reset the PCM, the truck sat overnight. I'm thinking maybe disconnecting the battery for a few hours could be the next step? I am also headed to Illinois over Thanksgiving, and my dad has a junkyard source who can hook me up as well.
I'll report back my findings.
