I bought a 14 x 3 chrome setup on Ebay last week an itarrived at my doorstep last night. It is the one made by Mr. Gasket and I only ended up paying $18 including shipping! [sm=wootwoot.gif]

I plan to install it tonight after work and let you guys the results.

i can second your statements on mileage and winter.. im running 400 lbs in the bed too. (seven 60lb tube sand bags) and i noticed 2 things right away.. mileage went to the crapper, and the truck rides alot better... to so much tank like... winter blend fuel is crappier,,, and ive had my ram in 4X4 a few times and that really killed the mileage,, thats why I never really worry about good mileage in the winter.. only thing i worry about is good traction,, that and sometimes I drive around town and the out skirts of town lookin for chevys and fords in ditches or in snow drifts so i can pull them out

i love the look of that setup.. really makes me think about doing this.. mianly it woudl be really nice to get that pass. side space back for a second battery and another PDC box,,, looks more hottrod-ish.. does justice to the 360..

and if it makes the buttdyno happy.. hell.. why not!

That's a good buy on the Mr. Gasket kit. I paid about $10 more. If it has the flat base, have fun getting the 3" filter in there. It will fit, I did it, but she's tight until it drops down over the TB. I think I had to slide the filter and the base together over the TB, otherwise the filter catches before it drops into the ring of the base. It's a great improvement over stock, well worth the investment.
Check out my gallery, I have pictures of it installed in there.

Do you think the Ram Air Box would work better then this setup?

I think RM Indy said that it did better on the track then just the 14x3 by itself. Maybe he can jump in here.

For the price difference i think i'll just get the 14x3, it's good looking, it's inexpensive and it performs well.

Maybe, but not yet. I want to see how this setup does in the hot summer.

Yes it will. I started with a genI K&N kit with 14x2.25" filter. Saw .28 et reduction
Same filter inside the ramairbox reduced the ets by a further .15seconds.
Using the true 14x3" K&N inside the ramairbox though no track #s figure by SOTP it was another .1 or more off ets.

Ramairbox gave a noticeable highway mileage increase.
