But I agree with what you said, if you keep your foot out of it, mpg should stay at least the same.
OK, I'm guilty as charged....I just burned a 1/4 tank of gas in less than 10 minutes!

I just got back from a test drive after I installed the air cleaner setup. All I can say is WOW!!!! The throttle response and increased power on the road is amazing for a $30 modification. Not to mention the "old quadrajet" sound under the hood reminds me of 25 years ago in High School when I was beating on my Big Blocks!

I ended up using a 1.5" air cleaner riser instead of the 1". This gave me even more space over the throttle cables and plenum. There is also almost 2" of spaceabove thelid of the air cleaner.

I'm still wondering why some of our trucks have the PCV and breather on opposite sides. ASH, you mentioned that your pcv is connected to the side of your throttle body? I took a really hard look at mine tonight and the pcv goes into the side of the plenum on the drivers side. It looks like thereis no otherfitting or even a casting mark that it could conect to.

Maybe by 2001, Mopar was trying to make a change to it's intake problem?

No, I didn't say that, I said it goes into the intake. On the other side, my brake booster goes into the intake too. Check these pics with the high quality graphics I added.

OK, you just made me run out to the garage in my stocking feet to take another look under the hood of my truck! LOL

My brake hosegoes into the driver's side of the intake just like yours but the PCV also goes into the intake just below and towards the front of the brake hose. I would take a pic of mine but I don't want to hear the comments about how dirty my engine is right now. [sm=imsorry.gif]

What's on the passenger side of the intake then, nothing?

Yep, nothing there. It's all smooth in the same area where your pcv connects.

Silver_Dodge, did you have to install a riser on the TB for the breather to fit or does it fit onto the TB as is? Looks good.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but I did not install any "riser".

I'm the one who installed the riser. The AC I used has a 1.75" drop so I needed a riser to gain the clearance above the throttle cables. A 1" probably would have worked too, but I had prenty of space to work with between the TB and the hood, so I used the 1.5" riser.

OK, I coundn't help myself. I have been wanting to do somthing to the ram so this sounded like a good thing. I stopped by a shop and picked up an eldelbrock cleaner for about $35. My old intake had the "s" bolt so everything was pretty straight forward. If there are no drasting loses in MPG I will most likely pick up the K&N filter as well. Thanks for the good idea Silver! Here are some pics. PS, I really hope santa brings some headers!!!!
