Default level/ lift kit or both?

Any recommendations on a level or lift kit or possibly both from the stock height?

The only "lift kit" made for these trucks is a body lift. Suspension your stuck with front leveling spacers and rear helper springs or blocks. You can get maybe 5" total lift with that, and if your 4x4, you will be stressing the heck out of the already weak front end parts.

Vehicle info?

Sorry, forgot about this. There IS a lift kit for the Dakota, if you can afford it.

Are you 2 or 4wd? Do not go above 2" leveling kit on the front if 4x4. It will stress the heck out of the ball joints, tie rods and CV axles. Front ends are known weak points on these trucks.

Performance Accessories has the 3" body lift of choice for our Dakotas. I assume their 2" leveling kit would be good too. You can find the PA body lift for about $360 (ish), and a 2" leveling kit (Daystar is a favorite around here) for about $110.
If your Dakota is a manual, you'll need another piece.

What "Other Piece" is needed if your truck is a stick shift?
