Electric Fan
here's some pics of the bottom brackets, they slide in the holders just like the fan shrould does. this way you can take out the top two bolts and lift it out. i kind of did this in a hurry, could have been a little neatter .

I found a copy of this TSB, but why does it specify "only for vehicles without
daytime running lights"? I have the exact problem they describe but live in
Canada so I have DRLs. Why doesn't this bulletin apply to me?

SUBJECT:
Warm air blows from panel outlets with A/C on at idle.
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing an electric cooling fan kit.
MODELS:
1998 - 1999 (DN) Durango
NOTE :THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES NOT EQUIPPED WITH DAYTIME RUNNING
LAMPS.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some 1998 - 1999 (DN) Durangos may blow warm air out the instrument panel
outlets while the A/C is ON in conditions of ambient temperatures exceeding
30°C. (86°F.) and the vehicle not in motion. In conditions of "stop-and-go"
traffic or while idling in high ambient temperatures, the A/C high side
pressures may exceed the high-pressure switch shut off of 450 - 490 psi.
causing the A/C compressor to disengage. The compressor will re-engage once
the high side pressure drops below 270 - 330 psi. The root cause of the
problem may be related to inadequate airflow through the A/C condenser in high

Perma-Cool #PRM-19115 is a retail $149 electric fan that is 16 inches in
diameter and flows a rated 2950 cfm. It has a pancake style electric motor
and an aluminum fan. It works well with the Painless Wiring Company coolant
fan wiring kit that contains a temperature sensor switch.

In the tech questions in my latest Mopar Performance News, one asked,
" what can I do to change my engine fan over to an Electric fan on my
Magnum V8 truck?" The answer they gave was to use part number
P5007266. It requires wiring harness P5007142. Guess what? It is
the fan for the V10 crate motor and was the standard fan used on the
1996-98 Viper! Now, I got to find out what it costs and see if I
should get one for my Ram!

i am also a fan of this (pardon the pun) and would appreciate details... mainly which fan to get... i don't know about all the wiring and controls that might be a little much.
Thanks for the pics scottscan. I just got my fan today. Not sure when I will get around to installing it. I still need to get the variable speed control. The wire that you tap into on the a/c compressor is it the white wire? Where did you put the temperature probe?
yes it is the white wire . our a/c uses a positive switch wire (if i remember right) you need to be careful with the probe !!! i place mine about 1 inch right under the top radiator hose .
Got all my stuff for the fan install. Got one question for you. On the instructions for the variable speed control it shows 2 wires going directly to the battery. Is this how you wired it or does the thin red wire go to an ignition controled source? I am guessing that both wires go directly to the battery so the fan can run for the 30 seconds after shutdown but I wanted to double check myself.
hey pro4x4 , glad you got all your stuff, now to put it on , the small red wire does go to an ignition controlled source. i found one in the fuse box under the hood and used the suppied fuse clip to rob power there. the large wire does go to the battery. this way it runs for 30 seconds after shut down. hope everything goes well !!! need any more help let me know .
