What's needed is a resistor (4.7k ohm 1/2 watt minimum according to the other post) and the ability to wire it in on the IAT sensor line (Intake Air Temperature).

RE: homade power wire
All I'm saying is that these engines are designed to perform within the specifications of the manufacturer. All you are doing with the mods is freeing up power that was already there in the first place. If you think that you can get 300 Hp out of the 4.7L without doing major mods you are crazy. I'll admit I have not put my truck on a dyno to see what itcan do.Who knows maybe I'm wrong I'm no expert. After talking to people who know a lot about engines the power wire isn't worth it to me. After reading the post by virused that convinced me not to do it. And with gas prices at or above $3.00 per gallon in my area why would you want to add something that may require you to use premium gas. But hey we can sit here and argue this stuff all night long. This is my opinion based on what I hear and read. So lets just agree that we disagree and leave it at that. Isn't this what forums were made for.

Well, if you added an exhaust and intake, you increased the chance of "engine ping" as well.
I run premium anyway, so it doesnt matter to me.
I will add this: I noticed a difference. It was more than I noticed when I did my exhaust. I am guessing its timing that made the difference.
