Have those brains at Dodge checked out the seat weight sensor system in the passenger seat, sounds like thats what could be bad. Maybe its stuck or improperly set. Maybe they broke a connector under the seat when they were installing the NAVI system, if they moved the eseat back out of the way. Just some thoughts.

VENT! It's ok. Hell, I know the frustrations in dealing with Dodge and I’ll bet it’s the same at GM & Ford. They aren’t making any money and they have a boat load oftrucks on their lots with four bucks a gallon in the near future. The situation is grim so they are grim on you too. The dealers are getting crap support from the manufactures told to keep the cost down. The dealers are starting to dance the dance more then ever and it's getting ugly. Rant if it makes you feel better I don't mind because I understand.

In your situation I think I would try finding a different dealer considering how this one has treated you. There are still good ones out there, mine back home has been great.

Last update for anyone who followed this thread. The new engine now has approximatly 1,300 mile on it and continues to be flawless. It runs smoother, has no clattering sounds at all, and is more powerfull than the original HO motor that came in my truck. The only problem that remains is the mushy shocks but soon enough we will have a good fix for that also.

I'm so glad to hear that it turned out good for you. It sound like they got the problem solved with the HO.

Well guys I'm new here but I'm gonna add my 2 cents worth. Its not just a 4.7 problem, I have an 05 3.7 dak that has the same tick at startup and goes away once engine starts to warm up. Got absolutely nowhere with the dealer, "its normal" yeah right. I inherited the truck when my dad died and it had a little over 55,000 and now has 84,000 with no major issues. And they did finally fix the cruise control once I held their feet to the fire. Turned out cruise issue was a simple connector problem, you'd think that would be a starting point for their diagnosis????

Im glad someone brought this thread back from the dead. My 06 HO has the cold start diesel noise as well. Once started, it sounds normal for 10 seconds, then clatters for 3 minutes, then it is normal again. I got the truck with 36000 miles, and it has always done it. If it is normal, I've seen it explained as tight wrist pins? whatever.

Ive got problems believing it is normal. No f--in way. Could be valve lash, could be bearings. In many other threads/forums, it has been diagnosed as broken exhaust manifold bolts. Makes sense because they are completely exposed to the elements with the opening in the wheel wells. Manifolds are loose at startup and reseal when the motor warms. That has never been brought up in this thread.

Any NEW info??? If it's manifold bolts, great. Im getting headers to go along with the almost new 3" hi-flow cat and magnaflow muffler I've inherited. If its in the motor, I've got to put the money there instead.

I know I could just go out and start tearing into the manifolds to find out, but its really cold, I've got 2 kids under 4, a sick pregnant wife, and an hour heavy job. Not bitching, just explaining. I should post Shrp's suicide gun here.
