Engine Tick

Engine Tick
Ok, So I have this Engine tick when the truck is cold and I think its comming from the Exhaust manifold Passanger side. How much crap do I have to remove to get to the bolts
to see if ones loose or snapped off? The air box, Heat shields etc? Is this a hard job to fix if one is snapped off? Im hoping its comming from the manifold and not a lifter. Any suggestions? Its a 05 Quad cab 51000 miles

Same thing!
I also have a passenger side leak in the Manifold. Midas said they have done a few on our trucks. He couldn't give me a quote because "It is a pain in the *** to drill and tap the bolts." Can't wait to get it fixed though, annoying! Has anybody else had theirs repaired? If so How much was it? Thanks.

Mine does it to. Only for a few minuets in the morning while cold. It really kind of sound like a spun bearing rod knock to me....pretty low in the engine....probably more on the drivers side. It has been described as sounding like a diesel by many people in many forums. 2 guys actually had rod knock diagnosed as the problem and had bearing replacement completed. If this sound like what you have...and it has been diagnosed and fixed by replacing broken exhaust manifold bolts...please speak up, and make a whold bunch of us feel better. Baracis, can you be more specific than "tick"? Thank you. I would really like to get to the bottom of this.
