WARRANTY QUESTIONS...... READ THIS!! (full thread)
Ok, so here is the deal.
I am tired of hearing people ask if, adding so and so will void my warranty. So..... hopefully people will read this FIRST, and notice unless a dealer can PROVE what was added caused the problem, then they have to replace it under warranty.

Yeah right... An exhaust mod isn't going to affect the water pump failing. But, they can claim your flash tuner and cat-back, etc. caused yourdrive trainto fail because you increased the factory horsepower output...
They have more expensive lawyers than we do, go ahead and try to win that one.

your truck has the 7 year 70000 miles on it. the 3 year 36000 is for the 06. double check with the dealer. you should still have quite abit to go.

RE: WARRANTY QUESTIONS...... READ THIS!!
My understanding is the standard warranty for the 2005 Dakota is 36 months/36,000 miles, BUT there is also a powertrain only warranty (read the exclusions) for 70 months/70,000 miles. I was told there is anextended warranty available thatcovers everything for 70/70,000,
When I bought my truck, I was getting so much hassle from the "sales team" about credit life, disability insurance, etc., I just bought the truck and left. Later, I wrote to Dodge about purchasing the aforementioned extended warranty, and was told to contact my selling dealer. After a number of months, and a number of telephone calls, I was finally told by the "finance manager" that if you did not buy the extended warranty at the time of purchase, you could not buy it later.
This may be true, but it is certainly different from most other manufacturers, who offer the option for extended warranty purchase before the basic warranty expires. Can any of you in the business shed any light on this? I bought my truck in November, 2005, and it has less than 16,000 miles on it. I woulf like to know if I can still buy the extended manufacturer's (not third party) warranty. Thanks.

Try to get it from Dodge if you can (see my previous post). Third party "warranties" are really not warranties, but are insurance policies against failure. As such, they are fraught with all of the problems of regular insurance policies i.e. deductibles, "big print giveth, small print taketh away", etc.. Ask the folks who went through Katrina about satisfied dealings with their insurers.
