My manual calls for 87 and I'm not noticing any ill effects from using it.

My manual says the 3.7 MUST NOT be run on premium, that it will not run well on premium, and NOT to use it. Only the HO V8 is available in Canada for the 2008 model year, and the manual says 91 octane is preferred for the 4.7.

I thought the 08+ engines had 300hp on all of them. I dont think they designate it HO either.

Yea, 302 or 305HP, depending which source you're quoting for numbers. That was kinda' my point. I have an 08 TRX and have never seen, heard, or been told that I need to run mid grade or high test. If so, I got a problem. haha

I doubt that engine is only for Canada and I doubt they have a separate line for USA. This is the same 4.7l HO V8 for both places. The regular output was discontinued on the Dakota for 08, and while your HO engine will run on regular gas, it runs better on premium. Just check ur manual.
